BREAKING: Fierce battle erupts in Lower Shabelle region, hundreds flee

BULO MARER (KON) - Fierce battle has erupted on Saturday morning in Lower Shabelle region between AMISOM backed by Somali troops and Al Shabaab, KON reports.

Abdikadir Sidii, the governor of Lower Shabelle region said the allied troops in fighting vehicles attacked Al shabab controlled Bulo Marer town from three direction and managed to overran Golweyn area on the road to Bulo Marer town after encountering small resistance.

Witnesses who spoke to KON said that gun battle is now taking place locations between Golweyn & Bulomarer and  heavy weapons can be heard, forcing  residents are fleeing their houses.

Locals in Golweyne area said the strategic  Al shabaab stronghold of Bulomareer might fall in the coming hours to Somali National Army (SNA)  & AMISOM forces who are advancing to the port city of Barawe, the militant
