Details come out of Baidoa market Bomb explosion

BAIDOA, Somalia (Keydmedia) – More details are coming out an explosions that rocked on Thursday night at vegetable market in the centre of Baidoa town,250 kilometers (155 miles), north west of Mogadishu, Somalia capital, Keydmedia reports.

Witnesses said the explosion happened inside the vegetable market in Baidoa, the third largest city in Somalia, killing at least two women, wounding another on the spot. These women have been said were traders in the market place before the tragedy.

Soldiers surrounded the market after the blast, shooting into the air. the explosion occurred as people were shopping.

Mohammed Ali Atosh, the deputy defence minister of Somali government said they succeeded in detaining the person who claimed responsibility for the bombing after operation carried out by the security forces at the market.

Mr. Atosh denied that the bombing was caused by an explosive device hidden in one of the vegetable sacks of the women who sell vegetables in that market, saying it was a landmine planted in the area to target Somali government forces.

This is the latest in a string of attacks in Baidoa , former seat of Somali parliament since the Al Qaeda-aligned terror group abandoned from the city this year.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for Thursday’s bombing, but the Shebab have launched a series of recent guerrilla attacks and vowed to topple the Western-backed government.
