Hamza, Swan discuss aid to people in newly liberated areas

MOGADISHU, Somalia -  The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre received in his office the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Somalia, James Swan.

Swan briefed the Prime Minister on the activities of his office and other United Nations agencies in the country, especially the drought relief efforts in the areas recently liberated from Al-Shabaab.

according to a statement from the office of the Prime Minister, Hamza thanked the UN for the various humanitarian operations meant to assist his people affected by the current drought.

James Swan, who will soon end his mission in Somalia received gifts from PM Hamza.

He was appointed in May 2019 as envoy for Somalia and Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) which is supporting Somalia in peacebuilding, humanitarian and political affairs.
