Hundreds mourn teen killed by car driven by sister

Fartun Abdulle, 17, was walking along a sidewalk on Attwell Drive in northwest Toronto while her sister was driving a Toyota Camry down the street on Saturday evening.

Toronto police say that the vehicle left the roadway and struck the victim.

Abdulle was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries.

Friends say that Abdulle grew up in Brampton, as part of a large family that included her older sister, Faissa, who was behind the wheel of the car that killed her.

The victim’s cousin, Hibaq Gelle, said the two sisters were close.

"Faissa and Fartun, not only were they sisters, but they were the best of friends who loved each other deeply."

Gelle said the family was grateful for the love and support extended by others in the wake of Fartun Abdulle’s death.

The high school student was laid to rest in Beechwood Cemetery on Monday afternoon.

The crash on Attwell Drive remains under investigation
