Kenya, Ethiopia border clashes kill 20

Nairobi (Keydmedia) - At least 20 people have been killed after a group of unknown Ethiopian gunmen clashed with Kenyan tribesmen in a remote border region.

The people were killed on Tuesday as the Ethiopian rustlers attacked stock breeders from Todonyang area in Turkana district and opened fire indiscriminately.

The thieves then took the herds of cattle with them and drove away.

An eyewitness, said the cattle raiders were heavily-armed and spoke in a language that the locals did not understand.

“The gunmen were carrying big weapons. They spoke to us in a language we could not comprehend. They then drove the cattle towards our border with Ethiopia,” Lolian Lonyang said.

The Kenyan government has promised to beef up security on its border with Ethiopia, stressing that it will take up the issue with Ethiopian authorities.
