Residents of Karan district, one of the frontline areas fought between allied forces from TFG, AMISOM and Al-shabab militias in northern of Mogadishu voiced concerns about repeated robbery and torture committed by soldiers under Somalia government at night.

They say The Transitional Federal Government is preying on the weakened people and already suffering from the effects of a devastating drought that hit south-central Somalia last year.

“Since we arrived here, there were armed men from TFG taking all the food from us. They have been snatching every little that we get, they also come at night time and threaten us with their weapons and take the little that we have in stock,” a resident told Keydmedia English News by phone.

Over the past six months since Al-shabab militias were liberated from Mogadishu, several incidents against humanity have occurred in the capital that high lightened the concerns of the IDPs at temporary camps and the normal residents who recently returned home.

The TFG military court issued a decree that called for the protection of the displaced people, saying said that any soldier found looting and robbing the poor will be executed to reduce such cases, but nothing has come out the promise.
