Al-Shabaab militants Flee key town as Somali army Advances
“Our police conducted the villages of Hamar weyne, Hamar Jajab and Waaberi districts in Bandir region and seized 40 criminals,” Abdullah Hasan Barise, Somali police spokesman told to media in a press conference.
He added that all detained criminals were involved in selling of drugs and other deeds against security.
“All of them were jailed and are investigated,” Barise announced.
Somalia has no functioning government since 1991, when Dictator Mohamed Siyad Barre was ousted.
Sources say that the United States and Turkish forces based in the capital Mogadishu have bombed Al-Shabaab's defensive bases from the air, which forced the militants to flee.
