Preparatory Committee announces Consultative Meeting to be held in Mogadishu

The main purpose of the Consultative Meeting is to discuss and endorse a Roadmap, outlining key tasks for the Transitional Federal Institutions to complete during the coming year. These will include specific actions on security, the constitution, reconciliation, good governance and elections. A subsequent meeting with a broad range of civil society stakeholders will take place in Somalia before the end of October.

The meetings build on the High-Level Consultative Meeting convened by the UN Special Representative for Somalia Augustine Mahiga in Nairobi in April and follow the signing of the Kampala Accord in June.
