Puntland troops kills 20 terrorists in revenge for Bosaso jail attack

BOSASO, Somalia - Puntland security forces carried out a massive operation against Al-Shabaab militants on the outskirt of Bosaso, hours after a complex jail attack in the Gulf of Aden port city.

Local Security officials confirmed to KON via phone that at least 20 militants were killed in the operation and four others captured alive and taken into custody.

The offensive was in revenge for the attack on the prison that led at least 400 Al-Shabaab and ISIS inmates managed to escape during the gunfight.

Puntland President, Said Abdullahi Deni who reached Bosaso on Friday shortly after the attack has met the security officials and the Bari region's administration to discuss the fight against the terrorists.

Al-Shabaab and ISIS militants have stronghold bases near Bosaso, where they plot attacks and issue orders to the local businesses to pay extortion through threats.
