Sheikh Ali Dhere: Wanted Dead or Alive

Traders, diaspora and elders from Somalia's Murusade clan, a Hawiye subclan, had a meeting in an internet based paltalk chatroom and declared they will give $250,000 whoever delivers Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage (Sheikh Ali Dhere), the spokesman of the al-Shabaab insurgent group, to them dead or alive.

The members stated that it’s very important to capture the criminal who is responsible for killing Somali civilians while praising himself for the mass killing of more than hundred people in a recent suicide truck bomb attack.

“His movements have to stop so that he will not massacre innocent Somali students and civilians,” Sadik Osman Hassan, a traders of Murusade clan, told Somalia Report.

“This man has caused so many problems for the Somali people. He has confirmed that he has done many criminal acts against the Somali people. He also kept the clan surrounded and stranded. It is very important the tribe reach a decision against him,” he added.

In addition to the Mogadishu truck bomb this month, Sheik Ali Dhere, on behalf of al-Shabaab, has claimed responsibility for:

- In 2009 when explosion that killed more than 70 people, including senior officers, elders and elites as well as the former TFG minister of security, Omar Hashi Aden, in Baladweyne district of Hiran region.

- In 2010, an armed group entered Hotel Muna in Mogadishu killing almost 60 people, including Somali MPs and civilians.

Murusade is one of the largest clans in Somalia they reside mainly in Banadir, Lower Shabelle and Galgadud regions.
