Somali Prime Minster Survives Suicide Bomb; 2 sports officials Killed

The prime minister was not hurt, but the chairman of Somalia’s Olympic committee, Aden Hajji Yabarow (Wiish) and the president of football confederation, Saeed Mohammed Mugaambe, were killed after the bomber blew up her explosive belt near a site where Mr. Ali was to deliver a speech in the newly reopened national theater.

Several high-ranking TFG officials and other dignitaries were at the ceremony around 11:30 am local time to mark the first anniversary of the start of Somalia’s national TV station based in Mogadishu.

Ambulance sirens screamed through the streets as they rushed wounded people to hospitals shortly after the suicide bomb blast.

“Al-shabab was behind the theatre explosion. A female bomber targeted the infidel ministers and legislators, and they were the casualties of today,”Sheik Abdiasis Abu Musab, the spokesman for Al Shabab’s military operations, told pro-militant Media.
