MOGADISHU (KON)--Somali police say they have heightened security patrols in the capital, Mogadishu to thwart bomb and direct attacks from Al shabaab during the holy month of Ramadan, KON reports.

Kassim Ahmed Rooble, Somali police spokesman said during a press conference in Mogadishu that police and National Security and Intelligence agency (NISA), with the support of AMISOM police contingent will heighten security patrols and enforcement in the city.

"We deployed under-cover agents to across the capital to find out Al shabab suicide bombers and anti-peace elements who are hiding into the population. I am appealing to city residents to be vigilant and co-operate with our officers," said Somali police spokesman.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of Somali police shared names, contacts and vehicle registration numbers of ten members of Al shabab members entered in the city whom he  said are set to target key areas in the capital during the holy month of Ramadan.

Al shabab said it has sent suicide attackers into Mogadishu to carry out attacks against Somali Federal Government institutions and AU troops
