Attack on wedding venue kills five in Somalia

AFGOYE, Somalia - Assailants armed with AK47 rifles attacked a place where a wedding ceremony was going on in Adayley village near Buulalow area under Afgooye district, resulting in casualties.

Local residents confirmed that at least 5 people died and nine others were injured, while the wounded have been taken to Afgoye District in the Lower Shabelle Region for medical treatment.

Eyewitnesses said that the security forces reached the place where the attack took place, and conducted operations to search for the people behind it, although they did not arrest anyone.

Some of the relatives of the victims said they were very shocked, demanding that they get justice for the killing of their people, and the incident has added fuel to fire in Afgoye, 30Km south of Mogadishu.

It's unclear motive behind the wedding attack but police said they are investigating into the the matter and will release a statement later.

It was recently when armed men attacked a place where a wedding party was going on on the outskirts of Abudwaq district in central Somalia, and the attack resulted in the loss of life and injuries.
