Germany pledges to help Somalia fight Al-Shabaab

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre held a meeting with the new ambassador of Germany, Sebastian Groth at his office within the Villa Somalia.

The talks happened shortly after the ambassador presents his credentials to the president of the country, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The meeting discussed the strengthening of relations and cooperation between the two countries, including the fight against Al-Shabaab, the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group.

The Prime Minister thanked the German government for its support of the Somali people and government in the fields of security, humanitarian, and development projects, including roads.

Ambassador Sebastian Groth promised to work to strengthen the traditional relationship between Somalia and Germany.
