MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least two people were killed and several wounded after gunmen ambushed a vehicle carrying Khat in central Somalia on Tuesday night, local authorities said.
The attack took place on the outskirts of Adado district in Galgadud province, the scene of recent tribal clashes and Al-Shabaab extremist attacks on government-controlled towns.
The car overturned as it was fleeing from the militia during the shooting. It is unclear who was behind the assault but may have been linked to clan revenge in the area.
Galmudug ministry of security didn't respond to the attack so far. The travelers mostly pay the heavy price in the recurrent confrontations between armed clan militias fighting for control.
