MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia’s security minister Abdullahi Mohamed Nur held a meeting at his office on Tuesday with members of the family of the slain NISA agent Ikran Tahlil Farah.

Speaking to the media following the meeting, Nur announced that he gave the family the green light to hold a peaceful protest in Mogadishu, demanding justice for the victim.

Qali Mohamud Guhad, the mother of the murdered girl has thanked the minister for supporting their fight for justice, asking the public to show solidarity with Ikran, who went missing on 26th June 2021.

On the other hand, the deputy Mogadishu mayor on the security Ali Yare downplayed the minister's decision, saying he has no legality and power to authorize a rally in the capital.

The family left no stone unturned to raise the issue of the disappeared intelligence official, accusing the sacked NISA head Fahad Yasin and his associates of being behind the assassination of the young girl.

But, the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo was blamed for disrupting the efforts for a throughout and independent investigation into the matter by the relevent courts.

A lawsuit against the accused officials is at the military court and there is an investigation into the murder case by a team from the office of the PM, who wants justice to be served.

The issue plunged the country into political turmoil after PM Roble and Farmajo clashed over the sacking of Fahad Yasin and security minister Hassan Hundubey with the pair fighting for NISA control.
