MOGADISHU, Somalia - At least 3 civilians were killed and several others hurt after a barrage of mortars targeted the presidential palace in the Somali capital Mogadishu, police said.

Captain Mohamed Hussein, a police officer confirmed that several mortar shells hit residential areas near Villa Somalia and Godka Jila’ow, a notorious Intelligence prison holding militants.

Fahdi Adow Abdi and her young sister were among the dead. She has a dream after graduated last year from Mogadishu university. Her life cut short.

This is the third time the Somali capital has been targeted in less than three months, following a March mortar attack that left at least two people dead and several Ugandan soldiers injured.

No group claimed responsibility for the shelling, however, Al-Shabab carried out numerous attacks over the years, mostly in Mogadishu, where thousands killed in car bombings.
