MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Somali Police spokesperson, Sadiq Dodishe told reporters that the Friday night attack on Lul Yemeni restaurant in Mogadishu has left 10 people dead and injured 30 others.

He confirmed that the deadly attack near the city’s main port was used a rickshaw or Tuk-Tuk packed with explosives and driven by a brainwashed terrorist sent by Al-Shabaab, the Al-Qaeda’s ally.

It’s the second attack targeted at the same restaurant since August 2020 but the latest attack left heavy casualties with the death toll believed to be more than 20, according to sources.

Al Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the assault, saying the target was high government officials holding a security meeting in the area, in a statement the terrorist group has released.

The Tuk-Tuk bombing shows clearly how Al-Shabaab is switching tactics to reach its goal to oust the UN-backed Somali government in the capital and expel the AU troops protecting it.

The attack comes amid political deadlock in the country after the president's 4-year mandate ended on Feb 8 without an election and a successor in place, leading the opposition to begin street protests, calling for the removal of Farmajo, whom they termed a "dictator".
