Regional leaders to hold joint meeting without Farmajo

MOGADISHU, Somalia - According to sources obtained by Keydmedia Online, the leaders of the five Somali regional states will be meeting on Thursday for the first time since their arrival in Mogadishu early this month.

The meeting was facilitated by the International Community which is trying to unlock the ongoing tit-for-tat deadlock between Farmajo and the leaders of Puntland and Jubbaland who boycotted Afisyoni election talks.

The foreign diplomats in Mogadishu are making joint efforts to bring Somali leaders together in the planned consultative forum after Deni and Madobe set conditions for their attendance.

Since Dhusamareb 4 meeting last month, the regional leaders never had such an organized meeting to discuss the contentious issues related to the upcoming elections in Somalia.

Sources revealed to KON that Farmajo is not happy with the regional leaders' joint conference deemed as a threat to plans for his re-election bid.

He called Villa Somalia allied head of states - Galmudug, Southwest, and HirShabelle for a meeting at Afisyoni on Thursday to avert the planned regional-level talks in the Halane camp.
