Somali Govt disbands election teams after extension

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Deputy PM of the caretaker Somali government, Mahdi Mohamed Guled has held an Iftar meeting with the members of the controversial Federal and state-level Election Committees in Villa Somalia on Tuesday evening.

The state-run media reported that the deputy PM has thanked the election teams from all five Somali federal states for their work since established six months ago

The committees nominated by the office of the acting PM, Mohamed Hussein Roble faced allegations that most of the members are from the Somali intelligence agency and civil servants.

However, they were reminded of their leave following the extension term that Parliament regulated as they are no sign of immediate holding of an election. During their stay in the hotels, the members were provided with accommodations and free of charge services.

The government has nullified the 17 Sep agreement that was deemed to go through the process of holding an inclusive election to take place in the country.

The international community strongly disagreed with the extension calling on sides to return to the poll talks to end the deadlock.

Meanwhile, the outgoing President is seeking support from the AU and regionals blocks to let me stay in office and escape the pressure from the donors.
