Somali President holds a meeting with the heads of Puntland state

GAROWE, Somalia - The President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended a dinner meeting held at Puntland State House following talks with regional leadership.

The talks focused on the cooperation between Villa Somalia and Puntland and the fight against the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab group and Islamic States militants in Galgala mountains.

Mohamud held consultation meetings with the traditional elders and members of the society and he listened to their suggestions for the development of Somalia and the state building process.

The president of Puntland Saidd Abdullahi Deni, who ran for the President of Somalia in May 15, but was defeated by Hassan Sheikh Mohanud, who became the 10th head of state.

Deni, who received many votes in the first round of the presidential election, is said to have supported Hassan Sheikh in the second round to appoint him prime minister.

But this did not happen as Mohamud picked Hamza Abdi Barre from Jubaland to serve as the PM. This has irked Deni and caused a new political tension between him and Somali president.
