The President sent a message to the Somali people and asked them to prepare for the reconstruction of the country after Al-Shabaab's removal from all areas under the group's control now.
MOGADISHU, Somalia - The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud spoke about the capture of Adan Yabal in the Middle Shabelle region, which marked a big gain against Al-Shabaab.
In a video message, Hassan Sheikh termed the successes achieved in the army operations in the country and the capture of Adan Yabal as the beginning of the end of the Al-Shabaab existence.
The president called on the army and local people to double their struggle and continue the fighting against Al-Shabaab and pledged that his government will leave no stone unturned to support them.
Hassan Sheikh confirmed that the army and the Macwisley clan militia have taken over the district peacefully after Al-Shabaab vacated its bases ahead of the big offensive.
Adan Yabal lies about 250 kilometers north of Mogadishu, the Somali capital. It has been under the Al-Shabaab rule since 2016.
