Somali president to visit US at Biden’s invitation 

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The president of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will leave for Washington in the coming days after receiving an invitation from his US counterpart.

Keydmedia Online has learned that Mohamud will attend U.S.-Africa Summit which will take place December 13-15, 2022. Biden will host African leaders in the White House.

The trip by the Somali president to the US will be his second since his election in May 2020. He took part in the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77) last September.

The Meeting will demonstrate the US commitment to Africa and will underscore the importance of U.S.-Africa ties and increased cooperation on shared global priorities.

The White House said the upcoming U.S.-Africa summit will focus on democracy and human rights; mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and of future pandemics; work collaboratively to strengthen regional and global health; promote food security; advance peace and security; respond to the climate crisis, and amplify diaspora ties.
