Somalia president back in Mogadishu as SNA gains ground

MOGADISHU, Somalia - President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is back in Somalia after attending the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York last week.

Before the opening of the UNGA77, President Hassan met with various officials of US officials, including defense and department of state secretaries Lloyd Austin and Antony Blinken as well as Biden's national security advisor Jake Sullivan in Washington DC.

The president discussed with the US officials the relationship between Mogadishu and Washington with more focus on security and the fight against Al-Shabaab which AFRICOM is involved.

The president attended the funeral of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, in London as he flew from Washington to join the world leaders, including US president Joe Biden.

After the funeral, the president returned to New York, where he delivered a keynote speech on Somalia's situation, politically, economically, and security at the UN general assembly.

US is a key partner for Somalia in the war against Al-Shabaab the remains also the biggest donor contributing to the rival of the shattered economy and creating job opportunities.
