MOGADISHU, Somalia - A top military court in Somalia announced on Monday the execution of two Al-Shabaab members convicted of carrying out assassinations in the capital, Mogadishu.
Shu’ayb Abdullahi Mohamed and Sadak Abdijibar Omar faced the firing squad at General Kahiye police academy at daybreak, bringing an end to their life in prison.
Shu’ayb confessed during the hearing of his case at the military court that he killed 4 people including 3 security officers in Mogadishu between 2017 and 2018.
His colleague in Al-Shabaab’s assassinations wing, Sadak has been accused of killing a military soldier in 2019. He was detained by the security forces after a manhunt.
Both have been in Al-Shabaab since 2014 and they operated in different areas in Somalia while in charge of information gathering and target assassinations.
They had worked under Ilka-Asse, an English teacher who turned head of Al-Shabaab assassinations in Mogadishu after being transferred from southern regions.
Ilka-Asse faced the firing squad two years ago for his leading role in the killings of many people, including civil servants, soldiers, government officials, and NISA agents.
