Al-Shabaab issues new threats against communities

Al-Shabaab's spokesman also called for civilians to stay away from government areas and said they are targets. His warning came after the group lost key areas in the south and central region.

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Al-Shabaab spokesman Ali Mohamud Rage (Ali Dheere), spoke about the mobilization of the people in some regions of the country against the Al-Qaeda-linked group.

Speaking at the graduation of newly trained militants, Ali Dheere said that they will target every community that is involved in the war against the Al-Shabaab group.

Al-Shabaab's spokesman also called for civilians to stay away from government areas and said they are targets. His warning came after the group lost key areas in the south and central region.

He also sent a threat to the diaspora, businessmen, and politicians who are taking part in the efforts to incite the clans against Al-Shabaab, saying they will kill everyone siding with the government.

Somali army backed by local residents is carrying out joint counterterrorism operations in central regions, where 200 terrorists were killed and 30 villages were liberated, according to the country's ministry of information.
