MOGADISHU, Somalia - Al-Shabaab executed six people accused of working for the intelligence of Somalia, and the US in Kunya-Barrow town of ​​the Lower Shabelle region on Sunday.

The group announced the public execution in Southern Somalia through a statement posted on its affiliated websites. It's the latest in a series of killing against alleged spies by Al-Shabaab.

An Al-Shabaab prosecutor said the men were convicted of involvement in intelligence operations in the militants' strongholds that led to US military airstrikes that killed top commanders.

Most of the executed are youths who were arrested from different regions of Somalia, and the names of four of them are as follows.

1: Aweys Aden Hassan (Dalabey) was accused of working with the CIA.

2: Abdulkadir Ibrahim Hussein, was accused of facilitating six airstrikes as he was working with the CIA.

3: Abdirahman Abdulle Dhicisow, who was convicted of being a CIA informant helped AFRICOM carry out a drone strike that took place on the outskirts of Kunya-barow in the Lower Shabelle region.

4: Abdalla Nunow Abdulkadir, was accused of passing information on Al-Shabaab leaders who were killed in a US airstrike.

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate has been battling against the Somali government and AU troops for a decade and the group continues to carry out deadly attacks in Mogadishu.
