Dangerous terrorists escape high-security Somalia prison

GAROWE, Somalia - Keydmedia Online has learned that convicted Al-Shabaab terrorists have escaped from a high-security prison in Galkayo, the capital of the Mudug region in the past 48 hours.

KON made various contacts with Puntland Security officials, particularly the Galkayo Police, and confirmed the news of the prison escape. It's yet unclear how the terrorists managed to get out.

The officials say seven inmates tried to escape from the heavily fortified jail, three of them were captured and one died after being shot by the security guards while the three others fled.

The convicted prisoners are on the run, with their photos posted on social media by the police, asking the public to help re-arrest the Al-Shabaab militants who have been sentenced to death.

The escaped inmates were identified as Hassan Isaq Mohamed, Mohamed Ali Mohamed (Istakin), and Liban Isse Ali. They were waiting to face the firing squad after being found guilty of terrorism offences.

The escape reportedly took place at 4:00 am last night at prison in Galkayo. This has raised more questions within Puntland police and it could lead to the arrest of prison officers.

In the past two years, Puntland has carried out mass executions of Al-Shabaab members, who were accused of being part of a terror network responsible for attacks and assassinations in Galkayo.
