At least 16 people killed in central Somalia explosions

BELEDWEYNE, Somalia - Two suicide explosions occurred in the Hiran region, central Somalia amid ongoing massive military operations against Al-Shabaab, Al-Qaeda's East Africa branch. 

The first motorbike blast partially destroyed the main bridge of Bulo Barde town, which killed a least two soldiers and wounded several. A second car bomb took place in Jalalaqsi minutes later.

The local security officials said soldiers prevented the car bomb from hitting the city's bridge over the Shabelle River. The attack killed at least 14 people, including a former district commissioner. 

Mohamed Nur Agajoof (Dabbashe) was the administrator of Jalalaqsi. He joined the military operation after his dismissal. He died in Today's attack before handing over the office to the new DC.

The explosion rocked outside the Djibouti military base in Jalalaqsi. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the two blasts which claimed the lives of 14 people and injured several others.
