BELEDWEYNE, Somalia - The chief of the Somali army General Odawaa Yusuf Rage confirmed that 75 Al-Shabaab members were killed in an operation in Yasoman area of ​​the Hiran region.

The Ministry of Information of Somalia issued a statement yesterday, saying that 45 Al-Shabaab were killed in the same locality. An offensive involving local residents is intensifying in the region.

Al-Shabaab is facing multi-fronts in central Somalia since president Hassan Sheikh announced last month an all-out war aimed to liberate the group from the entire nation after 15 years of battle.

While on a US trip, President Hassan Sheikh asked the Biden administration to support Somalia in the fight against Al-Shabaab, to weaken the group's power within a year.
