MOGADISHU, Somalia - A powerful explosion from a landmine occurred in the capital of Somalia on Monday, a day after at least three people died in a suicide attack in Jowhar city.
The roadside blast, which was heard in parts of the capital took place in the Ali-Kamin neighborhood of the Wardhigley district early in the morning.
The IED struck an armored vehicle in a convoy carrying troops of the African Union Transitional Mission [ATMIS] who were reportedly passing through the road.
Eyewitnesses told Keydmedia Online that there was a loss of life to the AU soldiers and civilians in the area which is located on Mogadishu-Bal'ad road.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack in the Somali capital. However, the blast bore all the hallmarks of the previous terrorist incidents.
