Djibouti delivers medical aid and doctors to Somalia after attack

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Djibouti delivered a team of doctors and medical supplies to Somalia on Thursday after successive car bomb explosions on the 29th killed at least 121 people.

The delegation led by Djibouti's Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Health, Mustaf Mohamed Mohamud was welcomed at Mogadishu Airport by senior officials, including ministers.

Somalia thanked Djibouti for the assistance it provided to the country to save the lives of the 333 people wounded in the Zoobe attack, which marked the second deadliest incident since 2017.

On Wednesday, the Turkish government sent a plane to Mogadishu, which airlifted four of the seriously injured victims for proper medical treatment in Istanbul at the request of the government.

More than 120 people died in the Zoobe explosions, while around 350 others were injured with the emergency committee reported that 13 people are still missing and presumed to be dead.

Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the bombing, saying it targeted the ministry of education located along the Zoobe road lined with businesses, where there is always a traffic jam.
