Djibouti to send medical aid and doctors to Somalia after attack

DJIBOUTI - Djibouti said it is sending medical aid to Mogadishu today to help the Somali people who were injured in the two-car bomb explosions at the Zoobe intersection on Saturday, October 29.

The Prime Minister of Djibouti Abdulkadir Kamil Mohamed said that his government is committed to supporting the government and the Somali people in this critical time, dealing with the disaster.

He instructed the Ministry of Health to dispatch medical aid and a team of doctors to Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, where the local hospital is coping with more than 140 wounds admitted.

The successive Al-Shabaab blasts killed more than 128 people and injured over 300 people, all civilians who lost their lives in the attack targeting the ministry of education in the busy area.

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appealed for immediate medical assistance from the international community to save the lives of the citizens who sustained the injuries.

Djibouti is a close sisterly country that has been helping Somalia since 2000 when it hosted a peace conference in Arta city that produced the first transitional government since the collapse of the military regime in 1991.
