ADADO, Somalia - The security forces of Galmudug arrested the elders who spoke to the media this morning in the city of Adado who returned from Al-Shabaab-controlled areas in the Mudug region.

The commander of the 21st Division, General Hassan Jamici, who spoke to the local media, said that the detained elders were arrested and transferred to Dhusamareb for interrogation.

Adado District Commissioner Farah Diriye Warsame described the elders as "criminals" and added that they will be arraigned in court for dealing with Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group.

The arrested elders are Sugaal Warsame Ali, Ali Yare Ahmed Ali, and Omar Mohamed Jimale. They have been in Harardhere, the main Al-Shabaab stronghold in Mudug for about a month.

The Somali government warned the business people and elders against dealing with Al-Shabaab and taking the group's orders after launching a major military offensive in August this year.
