The Prime Minister thanked the government of Finland for its support in the fields of social development, especially education and health which largely contributes to Somalia's recovery journey.
MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, received the Ambassador of Finland to Somalia, Pirkka Tapiola in his office at Villa Somalia on Monday.
Barre and Tapiola discussed the strengthening of relations between their two countries and the ongoing efforts to eliminate Al-Shabaab from the areas still remained under its control.
Tapiola praised the historic gains made against Al-Shabaab and confirmed that Finland will continue to stand by the people and the Somali government in the quest for stability and state-building.

Finland is one of the international partners that support Somalia and has promised to help the government in the fight against Al-Shabaab, the Al-Qaeda-linked group which poses threat to security.
The meeting comes as the country's armed forces backed by local residents are taking the war inside Al-Shabaab strongholds in central regions, where dozens of villages were libated in two months.
