MOGADISHU, Somalia - An official says a convoy belonging to Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA] was targeted in a roadside bombing in Galmudug state.
An explosive device planted on the side of the main road in the Sindhiqo area, about 30 kilometers away from Dhusamareb city has exploded as the convoy for NISA passed by.
At least one soldier lost his life in the IED explosion while dozens of Al-Shabaab militants were killed during a heavy battle with NISA officers on Tuesday, according to the official.
The attack, second within this month shows how the security in Galmudug state is fragile and the extremist group is making a comeback during a critical time of electioneering period.
