MOGADISHU, Somalia - The governor of the Hiran region Ali Jeyte Osman who is on a working visit to Mogadishu has held a series of meetings with top Somali government officials and lawmakers.

On Wednesday, the governor briefed the speaker of the Senate Abdi Hashi Abdullahi on the ongoing military operation against Al-Shabaab during their meeting at the Upper House's headquarters.

The first and second deputy speakers of the Senate Ali Shaban Ibrahim and Abdullahi Ali Tima'ade respectively attended the briefing session with the visiting regional governor.

Governor Ali Jayte gave an update on the progress of the operations to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab in the country, especially in the Hiran region to the Senate leadership.

Ali Jeyte highlighted the importance to unite the war against Al-Shabaab and making it a broad line involving all Somali people and the troops from the National Army and the Somali regional forces.

Somalia is now at a crossroads where Al-Shabaab can be removed from the entire country or allow the terrorists to remain an obstacle to the state-building and stability," said Jeyte.

Finally, Abdi Hashi praised Ali Jayte Osman for the outstanding role he played in the mobilization of the local residents in Hiran to join the fight to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab militants.
