MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Somali government has said that 100 fighters including leaders were killed in a NISA operation amid a military offensive in some parts of the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Villa Somalia, Deputy Minister of Information Abdirahman Al Adaala said that two leaders were among the members of Al-Shabaab who were killed in the raid.
The minister added that the forces recorded success in the war in the Middle Shabelle, near the capital, where Al-Shabaab recently killed the Mogadishu police chief, Farhan Qarole in a blast.

The senior commanders killed in the operation include Abdullahi Ali Araaye and Musab Abdullah Saney, who were removed from the battlefields, according to the deputy minister.
The anti-Al-Shabaab assault took place in Masjidka Ali-Gadudu, a small locality where Somali troops have been trying to drive out the militants for the last few days.
Since last month, Somalia's ministry of information said more than 50 villages in Hiran, Middle Shabelle, and Galgadud region were retaken and hundreds of Al-Shabaab members killed in an all-out army offensive.
