Top Al-Shabab leader appears in video after report of killing

MOGADISHU, Somalia --  A top Al-Shabaab official who Somalia and Kenya claimed to have killed him appeared in a new video released by the group’s media wing known as Al-Kataib.

Abdirahman Mahad Warsame alias (Karatay) was seen in the video, sending a message to his fellow militants and sympathizers to continue the war in Somalia and elsewhere in the world.

Earlier February last year, NISA said that Mahad has been fired from his job in the group alongside Bashir Qoorgab after failing to obey the leader of Al-Shabaab Ahmed Dirie and opposing deadly explosions in the capital.

The UN Security Council has designated him as a most wanted figure in Al-Shabaab with the US placed a $5 million bounty on his head for his role in lethal attacks, including a siege at Garissa University that left 150 people dead in April 2, 2015.
