The fight in the central regions forced Al-Shabaab to withdraw from several areas, and the Somali government has said it is committed to expelling them from the whole country.
BELEDWEYNE, Somalia - The Somali government forces in collaboration with the local people carry out operations against Al-Shabaab in Hiran and Galgadud regions to flush out Al-Shabaab.
The infantry commander General Bihi said they recaptured key areas from Al-Shabab in the Hiran region, and the troops are now heading to main strongholds, including Elbur in the Galgadud region.
Speaking to the state media, Bihi confirmed that more than 127 fighters from Al-Shabaab were killed in the operations. He thanked the forces of the country for the fighting against Al-Shabaab.
