MOGADISHU, Somalia - The US-trained DANAB commando forces have carried out a planned operation in the Buqda-Aqable area of ​​the Hiran region which targeted the main base belonging to Al-Shabaab, in the latest in a series of offensives aided by local residents against the group.

The commander of the Somali National Army [SNA], Gen Odawa Yusuf Rage said that at least 18 Al-Shabaab members were killed and scores escaped with wounds in the military operation.

Buqda-aqable residents said they are terrified of the Al-Shabaab revenge as the troops seem they will not hold the area forever. The experts say this is one of the setbacks to the liberation efforts.
