There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the base bombing.
MOGADISHU, Somalia - The death toll from Tuesday's suicide bomb attack on a Somali army base in Mogadishu has risen to at least 15 with dozens wounded, security sources said.
One source said the actual death toll was most likely higher because some soldiers who were wounded in the blast are in critical condition at hospitals.
Keydmedia English correspondent in Mogadishu reported that a man wearing a suicide vest blew himself up among soldiers training at the Gen. Dhega Badan camp in the Jazeera area.
After the powerful morning explosion, black smoke billowed into the air, and gunfire was heard from the base camp which trains new recruits of the Somali military.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but it comes as the army launched a new massive offensive against jihadists in Lower and Middle Shabelle regions.
