ADDIS ABABA – The Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula discussed with Somalia’s Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama bilateral issues of mutual concern.
During the discussion, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula highlighted sacrifices paid by Ethiopian Defense Forces through international and regional peacekeeping missions and regular deployments to eliminate Al-Shabab and ensure peace and security in Somalia.
Commending the peace dividend gained through the sacrifices, the Chief of Staff reiterated Ethiopia’s support in the fight against Al-Shabab.
The Chief of Staff highlighted the role Ethiopia is playing in partnership with partner countries for regional peace and security, stressing the need to enhance collaboration between the two countries to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
Field Marshal Berhanu Jula further affirmed the commitment of the Ethiopian Defense Forces to provide capacity-building support to the army and other security forces of Somalia.
Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama, for his part, appreciated the contribution of the Ethiopian army in ensuring the well-being of the government and people of Somalia, calling the Ethiopian side to continue its support in military capacity building to his country.
