MOGADISHU, Somalia - The attack that started last night at around 7:00 P.M. in the evening at the Hayat hotel is still going on as the Al-Shabaab gunmen are active and holed up on the top floor.

The security experts described as the attack the deadliest and most complex terrorist assault in Mogadishu since the election of Hassan Sheikh in May this year as the 10th president of Somalia.

The local police in Mogadishu say the security forces are working around the clock the end the Al-Shabaab siege at Hayat hotel in the coming hours as they managed to storm the building.

The dead include the owner of the hotel named Adbidrahman Hassan Iman who was shot dead by the attackers inside his room at the start of the raid on Friday evening, the police have confirmed.

The number of the gunmen who attacked the upscale hotel still remained murky and the death toll continues to rise by the hour. The police cordoned off the scene and halted public transport.
