Somalia president takes steps to fix Farmajo’s broken system

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, dissolved the Judicial Service Commission and the Anti-Corruption Commission in the latest move toward reform.

The two task forces were established by Farmajo's regime and approved by the 10th Federal Parliament of Somalia amid a dispute about the legal authority of the government after its term expired.

Since the commissions were created during the transition and lacked legality to serve, the president saw the importance to form a new Judicial Service Commission and the Anti-Corruption bodies.

According to a presidential decree obtained by Keydmedia Somali service, the council of the ministers led by PM Hamza Abdi Barre will work on the formation of the key two commissions soon.

Since assuming office in May 2022, Mohamud has been making decisions to reshape the governance system in Somalia and fix all errors after five years of tubulous and chaotic Farmajo leadership.

The president who is leading the country for the second time is credited for taking the fight against Al-Shabaab inside the group's territory and encouraging the public to join the liberation war.
