Somalia records new Covid-19 deaths, pushing toll to 1,103

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The ministry of health for Somalia has announced that 140 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus and 4 succumbed to the virus nationwide in the past 48 hours.

The breakdown of the new positive cases per regional state are:

•    Somaliland: 105
•    Puntland: 27
•    Jubbaland: 5
•    Galmudug: 3

At least 69 patients have tested negative for the diseases, making the total recoveries 9,414 while deaths jumped to 1,103 after 4 people died of the virus.

The minister of health Fowsiya Abikar Nur urged the public to apply the health guidelines to contain the spread of the third wave of Covid-19 in Somalia.

Two vaccines have been introduced in the country since earlier this year, and very few people 2% are getting jabbed due to the low in public awareness.

The country's health system has collapsed in a bloody civil war that began in 1991, with the governance system still fragile, prompting endless corruption due to unaccountability.
