MOGADISHU, Somalia -- A senior police official says two people were killed and several others wounded on Thursday in a suicide explosion in the heart of Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.
Speaking to the reporters, Abdifatah Aden, the Somali police spokesman said a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up at El-Gabta junction at around 11:30 a.m.
The attack was aimed at a bus carrying dozens of clan delegates picked to vote for the Lower House seats representing the northern breakaway region of Somalia, according to KON source.
The explosion damaged the bus and there were casualties on the electoral delegates. But the number of deaths and wounds is still unclear as police didn't provide further information.
