UK pledges to play role in the fight against Al-Shabaab

The financial aid is specially meant to support the Somali people who are suffering, especially those who have a shortage of food, water, and other services in the field of health.

LONDON, UK - The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a phone call on Monday with the new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the UK, James Cleverly.

They discussed a number of issues of mutual interests, including ways to further strengthen the relationship between Somalia and the United Kingdom [UK], according to Villa Somalia.

The UK Foreign Secretary said that the talks also centered on a close UK-Somalia partnership. Cleverly added that his government will continue to support Somalia in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

We continue to support the Somali Government in the fight against al-Shabaab. We’re providing over £50m in UK aid this year to support the Somali people most in need with food, water and healthcare," he tweeted.
