MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Chief of the Somali army Gen. Odawaa Yusuf Rage said that the ongoing operations will not stop until they realize their goal to capture all areas under Al-Shabaab control.
Gen. Odawaa said that visible results have been achieved from the operations in the Hiran and Galgadud regions of central Somalia, where dozens of villages were retaken from the militants.

The Government has said that it stands by the local people who took arms to defend their territory and end Al-Shabaab extortion. This is the first public uprising since Al-Shabaab emerged in 2008.
