Mogadishu blasts led people donate Blood for victims

MOGADISHU, Somalia - In Mogadishu, many people lined up at the hospitals to donate blood to save the lives of many people lying in bed after being injured in Saturday's twin car bomb explosions.

It's something extraordinary and rare unity that happened in the hours after the massive bomb attack that killed 100 people and wounded three hundred more in Mogadishu on Oct. 29 at the ministry of education located at Zoobe junction.

Hundreds of people, including youths, soldiers, government officials, and students have rushed to hospitals to donate blood for the victims of the terrorist bombing by the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab.

This came after the residents of Mogadishu were asked to donate blood by president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, as the hospitals do not have blood banks to save the injured people who are in urgent need.

On Sunday, hundreds of people voluntarily poured into the hospitals to donate blood and give food to the patients," said one of the campaigners.

On Saturday at around 2:30 P.M. twin car bombs exploded at the ministry of education in the vicinity of Zoobe junction, where on 14 October 2017 saw a devastating truck bombing that killed 587 people and 1,000, the deadliest attack in the country's history.

The latest attack comes as the army gains control of ground from Al-Shabaab in central Somalia as part of an all-out offensive declared by the president following the Hayat hotel siege in August 2022.
